Disclaimer- This blog post is totally a work of imagination and is influenced by some lessons that my friend taught me today(11/01/2013). As the post may sound "sexist" by its title but I would like to inform you that it is not.
This post will be a short one as compared to the previous two. The inspiration/influence to write of this blog post is derived from the golden words uttered by my dear friend and classmate Mr. Diwakar Sanduja.
After an informative seminar given by a classmate on the topic -Dynamics of two wheelers, there was no class scheduled for the day. So the three of us, Diwakar, Manan and I proceeded to the Amul stall in our college and had our share of sandwiches, muffins and flavoured milk. On our way back to the hostel we were having a discussion on the theme of novels and the scenes explained in them by Sidney Sheldon. I asked Diwakar what he does when finds a new word for his vocabulary and if he is able to remember that word and recall/use it afterwards?
Then Diwakar said that he follows that - "words are like girls", further explaining he stated that suppose you meet girl for the first time and you like her, its not in the first time that you propose her or ask her out. Similarly if you find a new word, for the first time you should not look for its meaning (if you can infer it from the context), look for the meaning when you meet with the word again ( and again) and recognize it , so the aim to write is that never try to get a new word to get into your head, have patience and give yourself time to get the word absorbed into your vocabulary.
Thanks for a read.
